Growth doesn't feel like marching down a highway

There’s a line that sits under a lot of my work even when I don’t name it: life is strange and a little wild, and if you pretend it’s a straight road to a fixed destination you end up missing the point and the joy at the same time.

We love the road metaphor; we draw maps, we plan arrivals, we measure distance left to travel, and then we wonder why we feel tense and behind even on good days.

Growth, the kind that lasts, doesn’t feel like marching down a highway.

I believe it’s a practice, and practices need rhythms you can remember when you’re tired.

See, choose, act, record, learn, see. Same view, same choice, same time.

Do that long enough and the company starts to sound like itself, which is to say it starts to sound alive.
