The Power of Design Thinking

The Power of Design Thinking

Marketers can replace product positioning with Design Thinking and Narrative Design principles to develop marketing campaigns that resonate with audiences, leading to increased customer acquisition and retention.

To create effective marketing campaigns, we must embrace creative and human-centered strategies.

One Use Case: Investment Journey Simulator

Many individuals find the investment journey intimidating and complex, often deterring them from entering the market. To address this challenge, Design Thinking principles was used to reimagine the investment experience and make it more accessible to a wider audience. Here's how Design Thinking played a role:

➡ A marketing tool that demystified the investment process was created that empowered individuals to make informed decisions. The Investment Journey Simulator served as a bridge between potential investors and the world of finance, offering a user-friendly and interactive experience that helped overcome barriers and encouraged individuals to take their first steps into investing.

Empathy: Start by empathizing with potential investors, understanding their concerns, and identifying the barriers that prevent them from engaging in investment activities. This include factors such as lack of knowledge, fear of risk, and confusion about the investment process.

Ideation: Through brainstorming sessions and user research, generate ideas to simplify the investment journey and make it more approachable. Explore creative concepts that would guide individuals through different investment scenarios and help them understand the potential outcomes of their decisions.

Prototyping: Test ideas using an interactive "Investment Journey Simulator" as a prototype. The simulator allowed users to input their financial goals, risk tolerance, and investment preferences. Based on this information, it simulated different investment strategies and provided visual representations of potential returns and risks.

Iteration: Gather feedback from users who interacted with the Investment Journey Simulator prototype. Leverage user insights, identify pain points, and iterate on the design and functionality to enhance the user experience and address any concerns or confusion.

User-Centered Experience: By applying Design Thinking principles, a user-centered investment experience was created. The Investment Journey Simulator provided users with a simplified and personalized way to explore investment options, understand the potential outcomes, and gain confidence in their investment decisions.

Two Practical Applications in Marketing:

Humanize the Experience: Prioritize the human element in marketing campaigns by focusing on the emotions, aspirations and challenges of our audience. Craft compelling narratives that bring the online brokerage experience to life.

Simplify Complexity: Simplify finance concepts and jargon for a broader audience. Use visual storytelling, intuitive interfaces and interactive tools to break down complex information and empower investors to make informed decisions.

Three Observations:

Empathy Creates Connection: Understanding the unique needs, aspirations, and pain points of our target audience creates connections through campaigns. Design Thinking helps develop empathy to craft messages and experiences that drive engagement.

Storytelling Ignites Emotion: Narrative Design taps into the power of storytelling, creating narratives that evoke emotions and capture audiences. Through weaving compelling stories, we can inspire action and foster authentic connections.

Co-Creation Drives Engagement: Involving customers in the creation process creates ownership, loyalty and a sense of community. By building a community-driven platform that encourages knowledge-sharing, collaboration, and co-creation a vibrant ecosystem was built where customers become active participants and advocates.
